THE IDTA/ BCA MEDAL TEST PROGRESSION
SOLO ASSESSMENTS
SOLO MEDAL TEST PROGRESSION THROUGH THE IDTA SYSTEM
These examinations are based on:
- Imaginative entrances, cheers, chants, routines and exits.
- Good style and rhythmic interpretation, co-ordination of feet, body and use of arms with poms.
- Presentation, visual appeal and choreography of all required sections will be assessed in all medal tests.
To be examined in groups - eight candidates maximum.
Although the cheerleaders enter in groups they will be assessed individually by the Examiner.
ROSETTES - a series of twelve set tests for 3 - 8 year olds
ONE DANCE TEST - Entrance, introduction, one routine with
a minimum of four arm motions and four movements should be used. Exit.
CHEER BASIC AWARD 1 - 4 -

Entrance, introduction and a beginner's routine at the choice of the teacher/coach.
(Number of routines increase over the series.) Exit.
BRONZE - Entrance, introduction, one chant, one routine with a minimum of six arm motions and six movements in the routine (beginners jumps to be included in either the chant and /or the routine) Exit.
SILVER - Entrance, introduction, two chants, two separate
routines with a minimum of six arm motions and six movements in each routine
(beginners jumps to be included in either the chant and /or the routine) Exit.
GOLD - Entrance, introduction, three chants, three separate routines with a minimum of six arm motions and six movements in each routine (beginners jumps to be included in either the chant and /or the routine) Exit.
FIRST GOLD BAR - Entrance and introduction. One cheer and one chant. Three routines. Intermediate jumps to be included in either cheer, chant and/ or routines. Exit.
SECOND GOLD BAR - Entrance and introduction. One cheer and two chants. Three routines. Intermediate jumps to be included in either cheer, chant and/ or routines. Exit.
THIRD GOLD BAR - Entrance and introduction. One cheer and
three chants. Three routines. Intermediate jumps to be included in either
cheer, chant and/ or routines. Exit.
STARS - Syllabus as for Bars but to a higher standard.
PRESIDENTS AWARDS - Syllabus as for Bars and Stars but to
a higher standard. Advanced jumps should be attempted in cheers, chants and/
or routines.
INTERNATIONAL AWARDS - Syllabus as for Presidents Awards
but to a higher standard. Cheers, chants or routines to include advanced jumps.
INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE - Syllabus as for International
Awards.
IDTA/ BCA CHEER BASIC AWARDS
The Cheer Basic Medal tests are intended to encourage new pupils and candidates
who have not progressed sufficiently to apply for the next level of medal test.
The teacher/coach may use Cheer Basic Award 1 for pupils who have already passed
their One Dance test but are not ready to take the Bronze medal. Again they
can be used before taking Silver or Gold medals.
For each award, candidates will enter the examination room in a suitable manner and introduce themselves to the Examiner. Only two or three motions and/or movements are required in each routine. Chants are not required in this award. Music is optional for the exit.
Cheer Basic Award 1 (Pre-Bronze)
Entrance, introduction and a beginner's routine at the choice of the teacher/coach.

Cheer Basic Award 2 (Pre-Silver)
Entrance, introduction and two routines at the choice of the teacher/coach.
Exit.
Cheer Basic Award 3 (Pre-Gold)
Entrance, introduction and three routines at the choice of the teacher/coach.
Exit.
Cheer Basic Award 4 (Pre-Gold Bar)
Entrance, introduction and four routines at the choice of the teacher/coach.
Exit.
TEAM ASSESSMENTS - GROUND BOUND
IDTA/ BCA GROUND BOUND TEAM MEDAL TESTS
Team exams have been devised to allow the teacher/ coach to enter their squads as a whole group.
Ground Bound does not allow any stunting. However, cheers and chants are still required throughout the Ground Bound test progression, to amount to approximately ¼ of the exam content.
A minimum of six cheerleaders in any one team is required.
These examinations are based on:
Imaginative entrances, cheers, chants, routines and exits.
Good style and rhythmic interpretation, co-ordination of feet, body and use
of arms with or without poms in unison and cannons.
Good teamwork with creative transitions and floor patterning.
Presentation, visual appeal and choreography of all required sections will
be assessed in all team medal tests.
Teacher's own choice of entrance and exit is required for each team.
ONE DANCE TEST - Entrance. One chant and one routine comprising of a minimum of four arm motions and four movements. Exit.
BRONZE - Entrance. One chant and one routine comprising
of a minimum of four arm motions and four movements (to include beginners
jumps in chant and/ or routine). Exit.
SILVER - Entrance. Two chants and one or two routines comprising of a minimum of four arm motions and four movements (to include beginners jumps in chants and/ or routines). Exit.
GOLD - Entrance. Three chants and one to three routines comprising of a minimum of four arm motions and four movements (to include beginners jumps in chants and/ or routines). Exit.
FIRST, SECOND and THIRD GOLD BAR - Entrance. Cheers as well as chants to be included, together with one to three routines. (to include intermediate jumps in cheers/ chants and/or routines). Exit.
STARS - Syllabus as for Bars to include advanced jumps.
PRESIDENT'S WARD - Syllabus as for Stars but to a higher standard.
INTERNATIONAL AWARD - Syllabus as for Presidents Award but to a higher standard.
INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE - Syllabus as for International Award but to a higher standard.

IDTA/ BCA STUNT TEAM MEDAL TESTS
PLEASE NOTE: BCA coaches and IDTA teachers must obtain and pass the Stunt
Diploma in order to enter candidates for Stunt Teams medal tests. 
A minimum of six cheerleaders in any one team is required.
These examinations are based on:
Imaginative entrances, cheers, chants, routines and exits.
Good style and rhythmic interpretation, co-ordination of feet, body and use
of arms with or without poms in unison and cannons.
Good teamwork with creative transitions and floor patterning.
Safe, solid stunts and pyramid building must be apparent.
Presentation, visual appeal and choreography of all required sections will be
assessed in all team medal tests.
Teachers own choice of entrance and exit is required for each team.
50% Cheer, Chant and Stunt and 50% Dance technique is required for each team exam.
ONE DANCE TEST - Entrance. One chant and one routine comprising
of a minimum of four arm motions and four movements and one stunt or pyramid.
Exit.
BRONZE - Entrance. One chant and one routine incorporating arm motions and movements and two stunts or pyramids (to include beginners jumps in chant and/ or routine). Exit.
SILVER - Entrance. Two chants and one or two routines incorporating arm motions and movements and two or three stunts and pyramids (to include beginners jumps in chants and/ or routines). Exit.
GOLD - Entrance. Three chants and one to three routines
incorporating arm motions and movements and three or four stunts and pyramids
(to include beginners jumps in chants and/ or routines). Exit.
FIRST, SECOND and THIRD GOLD BAR - Entrance. One to three routines as well as cheers and chants incorporating arm motions, movements and stunts and pyramids (to include intermediate jumps in cheers/ chants and/ or routines). Exit.

TINY TOTS TEST - a series of five set tests for 3 - 6 year
olds
PREPARATORY MEDAL TEST - various arm motions and hand positions to be demonstrated together with a 16 bar set routine.
PRELIMINARY - various arm motions and hand positions to be demonstrated together with a 16 bar set routine.
PRE-BRONZE - various arm motions and hand positions to be demonstrated together with a 16 bar set routine.
BRONZE - various arm motions, hand positions and jumps to
be demonstrated together with a 16 bar set routine. An additional 16 bar routine
to be set by the teacher which also meets certain criteria.
SILVER - various arm motions, hand positions and jumps to be demonstrated together with a 16 bar set routine. An additional 32 bar routine to be set by the teacher which also meets certain criteria.
GOLD - various arm motions, hand positions and jumps to be demonstrated together with a 32 bar set routine. An additional 32 bar routine to be set by the teacher which also meets certain criteria.
SCOTTISH
AWARD 1 - demonstration of two set arm / hand movements together
with two 32 bar routines set by the teacher incorporating a selection of the
listed kicks, turns, leaps and jumps from the CHEER TECHNIQUE handbook.
SCOTTISH AWARD 2 - demonstration of two set arm / hand movements
together with two 32 bar routines set by the teacher incorporating a selection
of the listed kicks, turns, leaps and jumps from the CHEER TECHNIQUE handbook.
SCOTTISH AWARD 3 - demonstration of two set arm / hand movements together with two 32 bar routines set by the teacher incorporating a selection of the listed kicks, turns, leaps and jumps from the CHEER TECHNIQUE handbook.
SCOTTISH AWARD 4 - Examiners choice of previous demonstration
items. Two 32 bar routines set by the teacher incorporating a selection of
the listed kicks, turns, leaps and jumps from the CHEER TECHNIQUE handbook
at an increasingly higher standard.
